Peter and Paul Fast
Brothers and Sisters,
We have begun the St. Peter and Paul Fast. This is a fast which is from ancient times and always begins the Monday after the Feast of All Saints. On the Revised Julian Calendar (the one our parish follows) the Fast continues until June 29th, the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. The Church exhorts us to avoid meat and dairy products until the Fast is over. Fish is generally allowed on days other than Wednesday and Friday. We should remember the Chief Apostles as we pray, and ask for their intercession. This is a good time also to read at least a few of the Epistles of both St. Peter and St. Paul. May God help us to fast with joy and to keep the Feast with solemnity!
